Countdown to Christmas 2009

Well, here we are again - another year nearly over and Christmas quickly approaching.  Of course, it wouldn't be Christmas without HTPO's Countdown to Christmas so in time-honoured tradition, I will be launching one festive puzzle per day during the advent period culminating on Christmas morning.  The puzzles will be launched at a minute past midnight (GMT) on each day starting tonight, 1st December 2009.  As has become custom, there will once again be an added 'extra' each day, this year being a suitably-themed quiz.  Don't forget to save your answers to the quiz as you never know, they might well be needed at a later date ...I'd personally like to thank the many members who contributed puzzles - your help is very much appreciated.
